HM Motors is a local workshop on Portage Road in New Lynn. We opened in March 2026 with one idea: explain the work honestly, price it fairly, and get the vehicle back to you when we said we would.
Sanjay Lal owns and runs HM Motors, and works on the tools alongside two other mechanics. Between the three of them there is 33 years of experience — twenty years, ten years and three years.
That matters most when something is hard to diagnose. Experience is what stops you replacing three parts to fix one fault.
We are a general workshop, not a specialist. Family cars, utes, work vans, hybrids, diesels, older vehicles that need to keep going another year — all makes and models, all welcome.
We explain the fault and the fix without the mechanical jargon. If a word needs explaining, we explain it.
You get a quote before the work starts. If we find something else, we stop and call you.
We give you a realistic timeframe, not an optimistic one, and we tell you early if a part is holding things up.
Three mechanics, 33 years’ combined experience, and a free courtesy car so your day keeps moving. We work on all makes and models.
We are at 81 Portage Road in New Lynn, minutes from the train station. There is parking on site, and you are welcome to wait while we do a WOF.
